Early Legislation

President Warren G. Harding
President Warren G. Harding, a Republican, was president before the Great Depression who had advocated several policies that had allowed an unequal distribution of wealth. He later died in 1923 due to a heart attack. Calvin Coolidge, who was Harding’s vice president, succeeded him and had also followed Harding’s policies. Prices for the rich and poor had stayed the same, along with an inflation on goods.
